Need not worry about it. You can choose one of the following signs from our gallery:
BigBoss Signs: A-Frame signs come with built-in wheels. Just roll the sign in and out as per your need and fold the sign flat when not in use.
ConeBoss Signs: Rigid 3/16” thick plastic signs help you convert a traffic cone into a signpost - no mounting surface required.
You can also look into buying easy to install sign posts or portable sign bases to mount your accessible signs.
Our Access Signs are offered in three different color schemes. Apart from White on Blue, these signs are offered in White on Green and White on Brown combination. SignatureSign with lettering “Wheelchair Accessible Entrance” is offered in 4 designer colors - Green Normal, Green Reversed, Burgundy Normal, and Burgundy Reversed - all suitable for upscale properties.
ADA requires signs (including entrance signs) to have a very high light to dark (or vise versa) contrast between characters and their background. Colors do not play as much role as the contrast do. That is why white characters on a dark background, or dark characters on a white background are very common. That presents a very high contrast.
Directional wayfinding ADA signs create a good first impression on your visitors whether they are disabled or not. If your facility experiences a high traffic flow, wayfinding and directional accessible signs make the flow of people seamless, provide information and guidance, help locate various rooms, facilities, entrances, exit ways, and other locations with ease. Whether it’s a large shopping mall, a hotel, university campus, office, event ground, or a store, directional arrow signs tell everyone where they need to go and how to get there. Instead of looking lost and confused, disabled visitors feel more confident and clear about navigating on your property.
Our metal accessible signs are made of durable aluminum which last for years in outdoor conditions. Even our basic 63 mil thick aluminum sign lasts for at least 10 years outside. If you order an aluminum sign with the Diamond Grade Reflective sheeting, the guaranteed minimum durability will extend to 12 years. All the signs are laminated for superior durability and resistance to graffiti, moisture, and chemical splashes. 3M matching ink and film components also contribute to the long life of these signs.
While there are some recommendations for the mounting height of ADA signs, there are no guidelines for the size of the accessible entrance signs, as such. Therefore, you must decide on the size based on the viewing distance and speed (if people are viewing the sign from a moving vehicle).
As a thumb rule, bigger the sign, better the readability, even from a distance. Most popular sizes for aluminum signs are 12”x 18” and 18” x 24”. The largest accessible entrance sign we offer measures 24” x 30”. Our supplemental ADA signs are 6” x 12”. Pick a size and design that will best suit your needs.
Accessible Entrance Signs should be placed right at the entrance of a facility so that the entrance is well identified. If wheelchair access is present at the side or back of a building, a building access sign should be placed at the front stating this. If there’s an access ramp to enter the building, mount an Access Ramp sign near it.
ADA also clearly mentions that “Where a directional sign is required, it should be located to minimize backtracking. In some cases, this could mean locating a sign at the beginning of a route, not just at the inaccessible entrances to a building.” Hence, you can start installing directional entrance signs from the street, beginning of the lawn, or the main gate of your property.
For indoor signs, ADA requires specific mounting height for signs. The lowest characters on the signs shall be located at least 48 inches above the ground and highest characters on the signs shall be located not more than 60 inches (1525 mm) above the ground.
